The 2nd Anniversary of Establishment of the Tourist Police Bureau

The Tourist Police Bureau will hold
a merit-making and worship ceremony and other
activities on September 1, 2019
in the marking of the
2nd Anniversary of
Establishment of the Tourist Police Bureau.
These events will be held at the Headquarters
of the Tourist Police Bureau,
Suvarnabhumi 4 Road, Bangphli District, Samut Prakarn Province.
This is the 2nd anniversary of establishment of the Tourist Police Bureau
after it was promoted from Tourist Police Division to
Tourist Police Bureau on September 1, 2017.
The events are made to commemorate
the establishment of this agency,
as well as to wish good luck and fortune for the agency
and strengthen unity and harmony of its
personnel and related networks.
The programs will start at 07.30 hrs when
Pol.Lt.Gen. Theerapol Kuptanon,
Commissioner of Tourist Police Bureau, along with
Pol.Maj.Gen.Kritthapol Yeesakorn and Pol.Maj.Gen.Prasert Ngernyuang,
Deputy Commissioners of Tourist Police Bureau,
lead tourist police officers worship all the sacred figures at the Headquarters.
Later, the merit-making ceremony will be presided over by
Pol.Gen.Chalermkiat Srivorakan Deputy commissioner-General
Pol.Gen.Srivara Ransibrahmanakul
and joined by other high ranking officers and honored guests,
including key officers of the Royal Thai Police, former Tourist Police commanders,
representatives of public and private sectors,
Tourist Police advisors,
press and representatives from embassies of
more than 20 foreign countries.
There will be more than 400 persons attending these events.

The activities include a puppet show by Captain Yim of Tourist Police,
video presentation and exhibition presenting
duties and performance of Tourist Police.
In the past year, the Tourist Police Bureau
well performed their duties in crime prevention and suppression and
arrested offenders of several cases, in accordance
with the policy of Government,
Ministry of Tourism and Sports and the Royal Thai Police,
especially those whose offences made significant
impacts to Thai tourism industry.
This performance has been seen domestically
and internationally, and has built
confidence among tourists. Several police officers
from other countries came to the Tourist Police Bureau
for study visits, or we were invited for
providing trainings in various countries.
Moreover, at this Anniversary, there are
tokens marking this 2nd Anniversary
Ceremony given to key officers and honored guests,
in representation of our appreciation and friendship
and assurance of further cooperation and collaboration.
At present, Tourist Police Commissioner
has leveraged the unit capacity in every dimension
and has had his personnel foster
the measures taken in order to secure lives and
properties of Thai nationals and tourists.
For examples, the illicit drug screen tests for boat steersmen
and boat crews and inspection of life-saver devices are
performed at waterway attractions.
The illicit drug screen tests are also
performed with bus drivers and
bus conductors at the routes tending to
possible accidents. Furthermore,
the arrests of persons who swindle
tourists are also highlighted.
Tourist Police Service Boxes are to be built nationwide,
and several devices and equipment,
along with vehicles used inland
and waterway are also procured
in line with the number of tourists.
Each tourist police stations shall
provide trainings for volunteers in order
to assist in facilitating tourists.
The capability of the call center 1155 shall be leveraged.
Each tourist officer is given a motto
“be intellectual, speedy,
target-hitting, accessible and reliable”
to form their way of task performance.
This ensures that the Tourist Police Bureau
is ready at each dimension to serve
and protect lives and properties of tourists.
