Suvarnabhumi Airport leads an int'l media tour to SAT-1 terminal to witness readiness

President of Airports of Thailand Public Company Limited Mr. Kerati Kijmanawat and Suvarnabhumi Airport and General Manager Kittipong Kittikachorn today (25 September 2023) led an international media tour to the secondary passenger terminal of Thailand's air hub.

The afternoon preview of SAT-1 precedes the soft opening due on 28 September when the travelling public will start to have an access to the modern new facility.

The visit of the media, numbering more than 140 members drawn from television stations, newspapers, online and social media, is organised to provide a first-hand opportunity for them to witness the operational readiness of SAT-1.

The media corps followed the outbound and inbound international passenger routes by riding between the Suvarnabhumi Airport's main passenger terminal and the SAT-1 on the Automated People Mover (APM), getting a briefing about various service procedures and touring the facilities and various systems within the SAT-1

Mr. Kittipong said SAT-1 has successfully undergone the full-scale trial operations in collaboration with airlines, ground service providers and related agencies.

The trial operations were conducted three times, during the day time on 8 and 12 September, and during the night time on 20 September.

These serial trial runs have ensured that the SAT-1 is truly up and running on 28 September, and being instrumental to raising the Suvarnabhumi Airport's annual total passenger handling capacity to 60 million from 45 million currently.

Initially, two airlines, namely Thai AirAsia X (TAAX) and Thai Vietjet, will be operating flights through SAT–1.



The maiden flight to the SAT-1 on 28 September is TAAX's XJ 0761 arriving from Shanghai at 10.15 a.m.

For the first week of SAT-1's opening, TAAX will operate 14 flights per day while Thai Vietjet will have four flights a day operating through the terminal.

The Suvarnabhumi Airport will consider having more airlines to fly in and out of the SAT-1 in the future, according to Mr. Kittipong.

In the initial period, duty free delivery counter services, duty free shops, restaurants and special passenger lounges will be partially opened for operation.

The Suvarnabhumi Airport has placed great importance to ensure that the main passenger terminal and SAT-1 are functioning in sync to provide maximum convenience, safety and impressive services to passengers.



When the SAT-1 is fully open for service, it will benefit all sectors including service users, the public and the aviation industry, along with the tourism which is expected to see an increase in arrivals.

That will not only stimulate the Thai economy but will contribute to the Suvarnabhumi Airport's effort to raise its capabilities in a striving to become a world-class airport in a sustainable manner.

วันนี้ (25 กันยายน 2566) เวลา 14.00 น. ดร.กีรติ กิจมานะวัฒน์ ผู้อำนวยการใหญ่ บริษัท ท่าอากาศยานไทย จำกัด (มหาชน) (ทอท.) และ นายกิตติพงศ์ กิตติขจร ผู้อำนวยการท่าอากาศยานสุวรรณภูมิ พร้อมด้วยคณะผู้บริหารท่าอากาศยานสุวรรณภูมิ (ทสภ.) นำคณะสื่อมวลชนทั้งไทยและต่างประเทศ จากสื่อสถานีโทรทัศน์ หนังสือพิมพ์ สื่อออนไลน์ ตลอดจนอินฟลูเอ็นเซอร์ กว่า 140 คน เข้าเยี่ยมชมอาคารเทียบเครื่องบินรองหลังที่ 1 (SAT-1) ซึ่งคณะสื่อมวลชน เป็นส่วนสำคัญในการเผยแพร่ประชาสัมพันธ์ข้อมูลให้ไปถึงผู้โดยสารตลอดจนประชาชนทั่วไปก่อนอาคาร SAT-1 จะเปิดให้บริการแบบ Soft Opening ในวันพฤหัสบดีที่ 28 กันยายน 2566 เป็นต้นไป

คณะสื่อมวลชนได้เยี่ยมชมเส้นทางผู้โดยสารทั้งขาออกและขาเข้าระหว่างประเทศ โดยเดินทางระหว่างอาคารผู้โดยสารหลักและอาคาร SAT-1 ด้วยบริการระบบขนส่งผู้โดยสารอัตโนมัติ (Automated People Mover: APM) พร้อมรับฟังข้อมูลขั้นตอนการให้บริการต่างๆ จากนั้นได้เยี่ยมชมสิ่งอำนวยความสะดวกตลอดจนระบบต่างๆ ภายในอาคาร SAT-1

นายกิตติพงศ์ กล่าวว่า ทสภ. ได้ผ่านการทดลองปฏิบัติการเต็มรูปแบบอาคารเทียบเครื่องบินรองหลังที่ 1 (SAT-1 Full - Scale Trial Operations) เป็นที่เรียบร้อยแล้ว ซึ่งได้ปฏิบัติการร่วมกับสายการบิน ผู้ประกอบการให้บริการภาคพื้น และหน่วยงานที่เกี่ยวข้อง ทั้งหมด 3 ครั้ง ในวันที่ 8 และ 12 กันยายน 2566 ช่วงเวลากลางวัน และวันที่ 20 กันยายน 2566 ช่วงเวลากลางคืน เพื่อสร้างความมั่นใจในความพร้อมสำหรับการเปิดให้บริการแบบ Soft Opening ในวันที่ 28 กันยายน 2566 เป็นต้นไป ซึ่งจะช่วยเพิ่มขีดความสามารถในการรองรับผู้โดยสารจาก 45 ล้านคนต่อปี เป็น 60 ล้านคนต่อปีต่อไป

ทั้งนี้ สายการบินที่จะเข้าทำการบินที่อาคาร SAT – 1 ตั้งแต่วันที่ 28 กันยายน 2566 เป็นต้นไป ในระยะแรกมีจำนวน 2 สายการบิน ได้แก่ สายการบินไทยแอร์เอเชียเอ็กซ์ และ สายการบินไทยเวียตเจ็ท โดยเที่ยวบินแรกที่ทำการบินเข้ามาที่อาคาร SAT-1 ในวันที่ 28 กันยายน 2566 เป็นเที่ยวบินของสายการบินไทยแอร์เอเชียเอ็กซ์ เที่ยวบินที่ XJ 0761 เดินทางจาก SHANGHAI ถึง ทสภ. เวลา 10.15 น. ทั้งนี้ ในสัปดาห์แรกที่เปิดให้บริการ สายการบินไทยแอร์เอเชียเอ็กซ์ จะให้บริการวันละประมาณ 14 เที่ยวบิน และสายการบินไทยเวียตเจ็ทจะให้บริการวันละประมาณ 4 เที่ยวบิน และ ทสภ. จะพิจารณาจัดสายการบินอื่นเข้าให้บริการที่อาคาร SAT-1 เพิ่มเติมในระยะต่อไป ทั้งนี้ สำหรับในช่วง Soft Opening การให้บริการเคาน์เตอร์ส่งมอบสินค้าปลอดอากร ร้านค้า Duty free ร้านอาหาร และห้องรับรองพิเศษผู้โดยสาร พร้อมเปิดให้บริการแล้วบางส่วน

ทสภ. พร้อมให้บริการอาคาร SAT-1 ควบคู่ไปกับอาคารผู้โดยสารหลัก (Main Terminal Building) โดยให้ความสำคัญในเรื่องระดับการให้บริการ (Level of Service) เพื่อให้ผู้โดยสารได้รับความสะดวกสบาย ปลอดภัย ประทับใจเมื่อใช้บริการ โดยเมื่ออาคาร SAT-1 เปิดให้บริการเต็มรูปแบบ จะเกิดประโยชน์แก่ทุกภาคส่วน ทั้งผู้ใช้บริการ ภาคประชาชน และภาคอุตสาหกรรมการบิน ตลอดจนภาคการท่องเที่ยวที่จะมีจำนวนนักท่องเที่ยวเพิ่มขึ้น เป็นการกระตุ้นระบบเศรษฐกิจของไทยแล้วยังเป็นการเพิ่มขีดความสามารถของ ทสภ. เพื่อมุ่งสู่การเป็นสนามบินชั้นนำระดับโลกอย่างยั่งยืน.
